Non-prescribed goods
Export legislation regulates the export of animal, plant and food goods. Certain goods are not prescribed under the legislation, this means there are no requirements under the export legislation that must be met in order to export. These are known as non-prescribed goods and can be exported without the involvement of the Department.
Non-prescribed goods (NPG) may still need the assistance of the Department to meet importing country requirements. In these circumstances, the Department has the power to issue a certificate to demonstrate compliance with importing country requirements under the Export Control Act 2020 (the Act).
Micor (non-prescribed goods) includes advice on known importing country requirements for certain non-prescribed goods such as honey and other apiculture products, non-alcoholic and alcoholic beverages and highly processed foods, such as biscuits and confectionery that can be certified under the Act.
Importing country requirements for some non-prescribed goods that contain meat, fish, dairy or egg products and animal by-products are instead covered in the relevant meat, dairy, fish or egg modules in Micor. See Table 1 for the location of information on specified goods that are not covered in Micor (non-prescribed goods).
Certification alert: NEXDOC transition for non-prescribed goods including ‘Other Goods’
Exporters of Other Goods are reminded that certification began transitioning to NEXDOC on 10 February 2025. Other Goods is a catch-all term to cover non-prescribed goods such as processed foods/beverages, vitamins and supplements, cosmetics and personal care items, some animal feed additives/pet supplements, fertilisers and shells.
For more information on Other Goods and which countries this change has been implemented for, please refer to IAN 2025-11. Micor will be updated to reflect these changes at a later date.
Any exporter queries relating to this NEXDOC transition should be sent to NEXDOC@aff.gov.au.
