1.1 Conditions
Indonesia food and drug administration (BPOM) published BPOM Regulation No. 22 of 2023 on Raw Materials Prohibited in Processed Food and Ingredients Prohibited from Use as Food Additives, as a replacement of BPOM Regulation No. 7 of 2018 on Prohibited Raw Materials in Processed Foods. The new regulation came into effect on August 15, 2023.
2.1 Prohibited raw materials in processed food
The new regulation provides the catalogue of raw materials prohibited from being used in processed foods and is compiled in two lists.
The two lists below are an excerpt only. Detailed lists can be found in the BPOM regulation No. 22 of 2023.

2.2 Prohibited ingredients as food additives
Appendix 2 of this new regulation specifies the ingredients prohibited from being used as food additives in processed food, involving 45 ingredients.

The department encourages exporters to communicate with their importer to ascertain the necessary documents and requirements for exporting edible processed foods to Indonesia.
3.1 Government certification
The Department is unaware of any certification requirements for edible non-prescribed goods to Indonesia.
An NX188B (NEXDOC) certificate can be issued for processed food, ingredients and beverages. Exporters should check certificate requirements with their importer, or if needed the importing country authority.
Optional endorsement 9003:
- The products are fit for human consumption.
If the NX188B is issued with optional endorsement 9003, then the exporter must attach a manufacturer's declaration, exporter's declaration or HACCP certificate to the NEXDOC Request for Export (REX) to demonstrate the consignment's compliance with endorsement 9003.
