Consignments are to be free from pests, soil, weed seeds and extraneous material.


A copy of the import permit must be presented to an Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.


Note: the product type listed on the RFP should match the product description on the first page of the import permit. The product name in the title of the attachment of import conditions (generally the second page of the import permit) can be disregarded. Some import permits may be supplied with an attachment of import conditions titled as "Additional conditions of ginned cotton" - the product name on this page can be disregarded.

Consignments with import permits that listed the product as 'ginned cotton' on the first page should use the Ginned cotton to Pakistan Micor case.

Explanation of the endorsements

Endorsement 1237:

Is only to be endorsed on phytosanitary certificates where the import permit specifically states this requirement. Import permits sighted in which there is no specific pests or diseases are to be issued with Nil Additional Declarations.

Import conditions are applicable to unprocessed cotton including raw or seed cotton, cotton lint, linters, cotton waste or cotton stuffing until specified otherwise on the import permit.

This Micor case is not applicable to ginned cotton.
Some import permits may allow treatment to be undertaken on arrival and other require treatment before export. Refer to individual import permit for treatment details.

Where treatment is undertaken onshore, each consignment is to be treated with:
  • Methyl bromide at 80 grm/m3 for 48 hours at 21 degrees Celsius or above;

OR

  • Methyl bromide (Vacuum Fumigation) at 64 grm/m3 for 2 hours at 4 degrees Celsius;

OR

  • Ethylene oxide under vacuum of 50 kPa at: 1500 grm/m3 for 24 hours at 21 degrees Celsius;

OR

  • Ethylene oxide under vacuum of 50 kPa at: 1200 grm/m3 for 5 hours at 50 degrees Celsius;

OR

  • Gamma irradiation at 25 kGray. 
Some import permits may list the following methyl bromide fumigation schedule instead:
  • Methyl bromide at 48 g/m3 for 24 hours at 21 degrees Celsius
When treating the consignment, refer to the import permit for the specific schedule allowed.

The exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the treatment and present it to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.

Import permits sighted in which onshore treatment is not listed may be exported without treatment prior to export. For these import permits, no treatment details are to be endorsed on the phytosanitary certificate.
