Consignments are to be free from pests, soil, weed seeds and extraneous material.


A copy of the import permit must be presented to an Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.


Where applicable, the exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the endorsement and present it to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.
Consignments are to be treated prior to export with either:
  • Heat treatment - 80 – 85 degrees Celsius for 30 seconds to 60 seconds. All grains are hammer milled using 2mm to 3mm screens;

OR

  • Gamma irradiation at a dose that renders all seeds non-viable;

OR

  • Cold treatment - minus 18 degrees Celsius for seven days;

OR

  • Methyl bromide - 32 grm/m3 for 24 hours. (Temperature has not been specified in the import permits sighted by the department. If an import permit specifying the temperature for methyl bromide treament has been received, please send a copy to MicorPlants@aff.gov.au in order to have this Micor case updated.)

The exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the treatment and present it to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.


Details of methyl bromide fumigation including temperature are to be endorsed on the phytosanitary certificate in the treatment section.
Option 1 (EXDOC Endorsement 5070)
1) The consignment contains plant-based ingredients which have undergoneheat treatment to at least 80 – 85 degrees Celsius for 30 seconds to 60 seconds.All grains are hammer milled using 2mm to 3mm screens,
2) The consignment has been inspected and found free from contamination of any unprocessed plant products.

Option 2 (EXDOC Endorsement 2033)
1) The seed within the product has been gamma irradiated at a dose that has rendered any seed non viable.

Option 3 (EXDOC Endorsement 5071)
1) The seeds were held at minus 18 degrees Celsius for 7 consecutive days, starting when the core temperature of the consignment reached minus 18 degrees Celsius.
