Note: Vanuatu's NPPO have amended requirements to schedule 5, 6 and 7. These schedules no longer include dimethoate dipping as a treatment option for Cucumber Honeydew Melon, Scallopini, Capsicum, Rockmelon, Zucchini and tomatoes.
Requirements for cold treatment (onshore or in-transit):
Fruit may be treated with cold disinfestation treatment, either on-shore or in-transit, to treat for fruit flies from the family Tephritidae.
The following rates may be used:
- At or below 0 degrees Celsius for no less than 13 days
Or
- At or below 1 degrees Celsius (plus or minus 0.6 degrees Celsius) for no less than 16 days
COLD:
AT OR BELOW X DEGREES CELSIUS FOR XX DAYS

Requirements for methyl bromide fumigation treatment:
Fumigated in Australia with methyl bromide for two (2) hours at atmospheric pressure at the rate of:
- 10-15 degrees Celsius at a concentration of 48g/m3
OR
- 16-20 degrees Celsius at a concentration of 40g/m3
OR
- 21-26 degrees Celsius at a concentration of 32g/m3
OR
- 26-32 degrees Celsius at a concentration of 24g/m3
The treatment is to be shown on the phytosanitary certificate as:
FUMIGATION:
WITH METHYL BROMIDE AT XXGRM/M3 AT XX-XX DEGREES CELSIUS FOR 2 HOURS

Requirements for vapour heat treatment (VHT):
Fruit treated with vapour heat treatment with the core temperature of fruit held at 47 degrees Celsius for 15 minutes.
The treatment is to be shown on the phytosanitary certificate as:

FOR 15 MINUTES AT 47 DEGREES CELSIUS
Option 2 (EXDOC Endorsement 1898)
1) This fruit has been grown and packed in an area not less than 80km from an area where any harmful species of fruit fly (family Tephritidae) exists,
2) The fruit has been packed in pest proof containers.
