The import conditions apply to the following seed species:

• Acacia spp except Acacia hockii and Acacia nilotica
• Crotalaria spp
• Daviesia spp
• Dillwynia spp
• Eucalyptus spp
• Glycine spp
• Hakea spp except Hakea salicifolia an dHakea sericea
• Leptosema spp
• Medicago spp
• Paraserianthes spp
• Persoonia spp
• Senna spp
  
• Setaria spp
  
• Viminaria spp

A phytosanitary certificate must be issued no more than 15 days prior to the shipper sending each shipment.

When commercially importing, exporting or re-exporting CITES regulated plant material you must obtain a USDA Protected Plant Permit in addition to an import permit.

Packaging and shipping requirements

A typed or legibly printed list/invoice must accompany each shipment and must contain the name of the collector/shipper, the botanical names (genus and species) listed alphabetically, as well as the country of origin and the country of export for each taxon.

Each seed packet must be clearly labelled with the name of the collector/shipper, the country of origin and the botanical names (genus and species). The invoice/seed list may provide a code for each lot, which may be used on the seed packets in lieu of the full list of required information. In this case, each packet must at least include the appropriate code, which is referenced to the entry for that packet on the seed list/invoice. For containers holding more than one species, each species must be labelled separately.

Consignments must arrive at a USDA Plant Inspection Station (PIS) for inspection before being released to the consignee. The package must bear a green and yellow shipping label (PPQ Form 508) showing the address of the PIS as well as the following information. The label must be printed in colour and attached with clear tape to the exterior of each package:

• general nature and quantity of the contents;
  
• country and locality where grown;
• name and address of shipper;
• owner, or person shipping or forwarding the article;
• •number of the permit authorising the importation;
• •permittee/recipient name, address and telephone number. 

Underlying packaging/wrapping must carry the address, postage or billing information, and any other information required to direct the shipment to its final destination (the consignee's address).

Shipments that are deemed to prevent adequate on-arrival inspection or treatment (i.e. wrapped, coated, dipped or sprayed, or otherwise packaged in impermeable material) may be refused entry.
