Consignments are to be free from pests, soil, weed seeds (including noxious weed seeds) and evidence of disease.

A copy of the import permit must be presented to an Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.


Each lot must be securely packaged and labelled including kind, variety, origin, lot designation and treatment if any. Permit number must be written on the outside of the packaging.

Note:
  • in addition to the import permit, genetically engineered material will require a valid APHIS 2000 permit or notification. Email biotechnquery@aphis.usda.gov for more information.
Acid delinted seed of Gossypium spp does not require treatment if inspecting officials are able to confirm through visual inspection that the seed is smooth, shiny, pest-free and lint-free it can be endorsed using No 4533.

If lint adheres to seed it requires treatment as per the USDA treatment manual by either T203-f-1, T203-f-2, T203-f-3 or T203-f-4 as below prior to shipment.

The exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the treatment and present it to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.
