Consignments are to be free from pests, soil, weed seeds and extraneous material.

A copy of the import permit must be presented to an Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.

The Micor case applies to coated or pelleted seeds, seed tapes, seed mats, and seeds embedded in any other substrates that obscure visibility.

Explanation of the endorsements

Endorsement 6370:

  • The obscured seed consignment must be accompanied by a sealed sample in a package clearly marked 'official seed sample'
  • The official seed sample must be taken by an accredited seed sampler (e.g ISTA or Australian Seed Authority authorised sampler) using a method of sampling that complies with ISTA requirements
  • The exporter must provide a seed sampling certificate or exporters declaration confirming that the official seed sample was taken by an accredited seed sampler using sampling methodology that complies with ISTA requirements

The Authorised Officer must also sample and inspect the consignment as per the department's instructional material.

Note:
  • When exporting coated seeds to the United States of America, Bare seed sample (sample taken before coating) must accompany the shipment of obscured seed for presentation to the Customs and Border Protection – Agriculture Inspection Officer at the port of entry.
  • Seeds must be accompanied by a USDA import permit issued for Obscured Seed.
  • Seed must be of herbaceous or suffrutescent plants.
  • Seed must be accompanied by an official drawn and sealed sample of seed from lot before the seed was coated, embedded, or pelleted (base seed sample) and be identified as "Official Seed Sample".

Option 1 (EXDOC Endorsement 6370)
1) The sealed sample accompanying the consignment was taken by an authorised official using sampling methodology that complies with ISTA requirements.

Import permit dated 27 July 2020 and Plants for Planting Manual (05/2020-51) verified on 12 August 2020.
