All consignments must be free from soil, other foreign matter or debris, prohibited plants, noxious weed seeds, and living organisms such as parasitic plants, pathogens, insects, snails and mites. Material found to be co-mingled with prohibited or infested material will be subject to the same action as the prohibited or infested material (ie: re-export, destruction, etc).
The exporter is responsible for ensuring that plant material imported into the USA complies with all applicable requirements stated in Title 7 Code of Federal Regulations Part 319.37
An invoice must accompany each consignment with the botanical names (genus and species) listed alphabetically, country of origin, and details of the exporter and location.
Each container must be labelled separately with the scientific name (genus and species) of plant within. For containers holding more than one species, each species must be labelled separately.
All consignments must be bare rooted
For plants produced in the land - Endorsement 2828 applies.
Land/soil refers to the loose surface of the earth in which plants, trees, and shrubs grow, in most cases consisting of disintegrated rock with an admixture of organic material and soluble salts.
For plants grown in a variety of growing media, that is free from soil - Endorsement 2855 applies.
1) A representative sample of the land in which the plants were grown in was microscopically inspected within 12 months preceding issue of the certificate and found free from Potato cyst nematodes (Globodera rostochiensis and Globodera pallida).
Option 2 (EXDOC Endorsement No 2855)
1) The plants have been grown within a secure environment in a production area that is free of Potato cyst nematodes (Globodera rostochiensis and Globodera pallida), in a soilless growing medium, or in-vitro, and have not been grown in soil nor come into contact with soil.
