Asparagus will be fumigated with methyl bromide on arrival in the USA for red-legged earth mite (Halotydeus destructor).
Exception
If the asparagus was produced in an area free from red-legged earth mite, fumigation on arrival in the USA is not required. When exporting asparagus under this pathway endorsement 1874 is required.
Explanation of endorsement 1874
For Red-legged earth mite (Halotydeus destructor), an area freedom certificate is required to meet this endorsement . The issuer must endorse the pest free status of the product by including the pest free declaration on the certificate.
Where applicable, the exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the endorsement and present it to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.
1) Red-legged earth mite (Halotydeus destructor) is known not to occur in the area of production.
