Consignments are to be free from pests, soil, weed seeds and extraneous material.


A copy of the import permit must be presented to an Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.


Larger grain borer (Prostephanus truncatus) and Witchweed (Striga angustifolia) are not known to occur in Australia. Freedom from these pests can be endorsed on the phytosanitary certificate without sighting an evidence.

Southern leaf blight of corn (Cochliobolus heterostrophus), Fusarium head blight (Gibberella zeae) and Charcoal rot (Macrophomina phaseolina) are not found on the seed export pathway and certification may be endorsed without sighting evidence.

A visual inspection of a representative sample may be used for endorsing freedom from Doublegee (Emex australis), Deenanath grass (Pennisetum pedicellatum) and Johnson grass (Sorghum halepense).
Consignment are to be treated with an appropriate broad-spectrum insecticide and a fungicide at recommended manufacturer's requirements.

The exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the treatment and present it to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.

2) The consignment was found free through official testing and inspection procedure of Southern leaf blight of corn (Cochliobolus heterostrophus), Fusarium head blight (Gibberella zeae), Charcoal rot (Macrophomina phaseolina), Doublegee (Emex australis), Deenanath grass (Pennisetum pedicellatum) and Johnson grass (Sorghum halepense).
