Consignments are to be free from pests, soil, weed seeds and extraneous material.

 

It is the exporter’s responsibility to ensure that the phytosanitary certificate is issued within 14 days of the consignment being exported from Australia.

Refer to the departure date and inspection date in the Request for Permit.

 

Where applicable, the exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the endorsement and present it to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.


Explanation of endorsement:

Consignments exported to the Seed Gene Bank of Turkey do not require certification attesting to the diseases of concern.
ie: Phytosanitary certificate is issued with No Additional Declaration and the consignee must be stated as Seed Gene Bank of Turkey.

Note: For phytosanitary certificates issued on or after 4 August 2026, endorsement xxxx is mandatory.

Endorsement 8509:

  • Karnal bunt (Tilletia indica) is not known to occur in Australia. No evidence is required to endorse freedom from this pest.
  • Area freedom certificate, crop inspection report and laboratory analysis certificate are required to endorse freedom from Rice smut (Tilletia barclayana).

Option 1 (EXDOC Endorsement 8509)
1) Karnal Bunt (Tilletia indica) is not known to occur in Australia,
2) The seed was sourced from area free of Rice smut (Tilletia barclayana),
3) The crop was inspected during active growth and found free from Rice smut (Tilletia barclayana),
4) A representative sample was found free through laboratory testing of Rice smut (Tilletia barclayana).

NPPO notification received 6 December 2012. NPPO Regulations. NPPO advice received via Ag Counsellor dated 3 July 2026 and Annex 4 Special requirements for the import of plants and plant products verified on 9 July 2026.
