Consignments are to be free from pests, soil, weed seeds and extraneous material.
It is the exporter’s responsibility to ensure the consignment is exported within 14 days of inspection.

Refer to the inspection date in the Request for Permit.

This Micor case applies to the following:
  • Brazil nuts in shell (no phytosanitary certificate to be issued for shelled Brazil nuts)
  • Cashew nuts in shell (no phytosanitary certificate to be issued for shelled cashew nuts)
  • Almond nuts in shell (no phytosanitary certificate to be issued for shelled almond nuts)
  • Hazelnuts - whether in-shell or shelled
  • Walnuts in shell (no phytosanitary certificate to be issued for shelled walnuts)
  • Chestnuts in shell (no phytosanitary certificate to be issued for shelled chestnuts)
  • Pistachios in shell (no phytosanitary certificate to be issued for shelled pistachio nuts)
  • Macadamia nuts - whether in-shell or shelled
  • Cola nuts - whether in-shell or shelled
  • Areca nuts - whether in-shell or shelled
  • All other nuts not mentioned in the above list - whether in-shell or shelled
     

Note: Nuts are not prescribed goods under the Export Control (Plants and Plant Products) Rules. If the importing country does not require a phytosanitary certificate, there is no requirement to raise a Request for Permit (RFP), undergo inspection by an Authorised Officer, or obtain an export permit.

10/08/2026 – Updated general requirements to state nuts are not prescribed goods and no RFP, inspection and export permit is required if no phytosanitary certificate is required from importing country.
