Consignments are to be free from pests, soil, weed seeds and extraneous material.

  
Consignments are to be packed in clean, new packages/bags not previously used for any purpose.
  
Exporter is to ensure any packing used is not hay, straw, chaff, forest litter, or any decomposing material. 

A copy of the import permit must be presented to an Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.


Explanation of the endorsements

Endorsement 1849:

Fruit must be sourced from a fruit fly pest free area (Riverland or Tasmania only).

Endorsement 4087 and 4088:

Fruits sourced from non PFA areas and cold treated.
Consignments unable to be certified under endorsement 1849 are to undergo cold treatment prior to export.

Core temperature of the fruit to be continuously held at:
  • 0 degrees Celsius (plus / minus 0.5 degrees Celsius) for not less than 13 days,

OR

  • 1 degrees Celsius (plus / minus 0.5 degrees Celsius) for not less than 16 days.

The exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the treatment and present it to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.

Option 1 (EXDOC Endorsement 1849)
1) No fruit fly that attacks the particular fruit has been trapped within 80 kms of the growing area within the previous 12 months,
2) Papaya fruit fly (Bactrocera papayae) is known not to occur in Australia.
3) A representative sample was inspected and found free of Light brown apple moth (Epiphyas postvittana) and Codling moth (Cydia pomonella).

Option 2 (EXDOC Endorsement 4087)
1) The core temperature of the fruit in this consignment was continuously held at 0 degrees Celsius, plus or minus 0.5 degrees Celsius for 13 days,
2) A representative sample was inspected and found free of Light brown apple moth (Epiphyas postvittana) and Codling moth (Cydia pomonella).

Option 3 (EXDOC Endorsement 4088)
1) The core temperature of the fruit in this consignment was continuously held at 1 degrees Celsius, plus or minus 0.5 degrees Celsius for 16 days,
2) A representative sample was inspected and found free of Light brown apple moth (Epiphyas postvittana) and Codling moth (Cydia pomonella).
