Consignments are to be free from pests, soil, weed seeds and extraneous material.


Consignments are to be packed in clean, new packages/bags not previously used for any purpose.


Exporter is to ensure any packaging used is not made of hay, straw, chaff, forest litter, or any decomposing material. 

A copy of the import permit must be presented to an Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.

Where applicable, the exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the endorsement and present it to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.

If required by the import permit, endorsement 5814 can be added.

Consignments unable to be certified under endorsement 1849 are to be treated by cold disinfestation prior to export.

Core temperature of the fruit to be continuously held at:

  • 1 degree Celsius (plus / minus 0.5 degrees Celsius) for not less than 16 days.

The exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the treatment and present it to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.

Option 1 (EXDOC Endorsement 1849)
1) No fruit fly that attacks the particular fruit has been trapped within 80kms of the growing area within the previous 12 months,
2) Papaya fruitfly (Bactrocera papayae) is known not to occur in Australia.

Option 2 (EXDOC Endorsement 5814)
1) Papaya fruit fly (Bactrocera papayae) is known not to occur in Australia,
2) A representative sample was inspected and found free of Light brown apple moth (Epiphyas postvittana) and Codling moth (Cydia pomonella).
