Consignments are to be free from pests, soil, weed seeds and extraneous material.


A copy of the import permit must be presented to an Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.


Consignments must be accompanied by either a phytosanitary certificate or an International Seed Testing Association (ISTA) certificate.

The ICRs are applicable to the following seed:

  • Brachiaria spp
  • Centrosema spp
  • Chloris gayana
  • Ciltoria spp
  • Glycine spp
  • Lablab purpureus
  • Neonotonia wightii
  • Macroptilium spp
  • Panicum maximum
  • Panicum coloratum
  • Paspalum coloratum
  • Paspalum dilatum
  • Pennisetum glaucum
  • Setaria sphacelata
  • Stylosanthes guianensis
  • Stylosanthes hamata
  • Urochloa brizantha
  • Vigna unguicalata

Any other grass and legume seeds listed on the import permit.
Consignments are to be treated with an approved insecticide and fungicide at recommended manufacturer’s requirements (registered label rates).

The exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the treatment and present it to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.

Treatmentis only to be endorsed on the Phytosanitary certificate when the import permitspecifically states this requirement. When an import permit is presented withno treatment requirement, the consignment does not require treatment and aphytosanitary certificate will be issued without a treatment endorsement.
