Consignments are to be free from pests, soil, weed seeds and extraneous material.


Product must be grown in Australia.
 
Phytosanitary certificate must certify that the consignment has been inspected and is considered to be free from quarantine pests and injurious pests. 

The approved port of entry into Tonga is Queen Salote wharf, Nuku 'alofa. 

Consignments are to be packed in clean, new packages/bags not previously used for any purpose.

Exporter is to ensure any packing used is not hay, straw, chaff, or any decomposing material. 
 
A copy of the import permit must be presented to an Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.

Where applicable, the exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the endorsement and present it to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.

The exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the treatment and present it to the department at time of authorisation.


Plant/ plant material goods are subject to inspection on arrival and must be found free of plant pests, soil or other plant material not listed on the import permit.


Explanation of the endorsements

Endorsement 6749:
  • Fruit must be sourced from an area free from phylloxera.
Endorsement 6750:
  • Fruit must undergo fumigation treatment.
Consignments unable to be certified under endorsement 6749 are to be treated by fumigation prior to export.

  • Grapes must be fumigated with methyl bromide at 32 gpm (grams per cubic metre) for 2 hours at 21°C. 

The exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the treatment and present it to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.

Option 1 (EXDOC Endorsement 6749):
1) The area in which the grapes were grown is free from phylloxera.

Option 2 (EXDOC Endorsement 6750):
1) Grapes have undergone fumigation treatment with methyl bromide at 32gpm for 2 hours at 21 degrees Celsius.
