Consignments are to be free from pests, soil, weed seeds and extraneous material.


Consignments are to be packed in clean, new packages/bags not previously used for any purpose.


Exporter is to ensure any packing used is not hay, straw, chaff, forest litter, or any decomposing material. 

A copy of the import permit must be presented to an Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.

 
Where applicable, the exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the endorsement and present it to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.
Treatment of each consignment may be undertaken in Australia or upon arrival in Tonga.

If treated in Australia:

  • Each consignment is to be fumigated with Methyl bromide at 32g/m3 for 3 hours.

The exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the treatment and present it to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.

If to be treated on arrival in Tonga:

A phytosanitary certificate with no treatment may be issued when exporters opt to undertake fumigation on arrival.
