Consignments are to be free from pests, soil, weed seeds and extraneous material.


Consignments are to be packed in clean, new packages/bags not previously used for any purpose.


Exporter is to ensure any packing used is not hay, straw, chaff, forest litter, or any decomposing material. 

A copy of the import permit must be presented to an Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.


Due to the prevalence of Cabbage butterfly in Australia, area freedom cannot be declared for this pest. Fumigation with methyl bromide is required to treat for Cabbage butterfly for export of Broccoli (Brassica oleracea var. italic) to Tonga.

Where applicable, the exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the endorsement and present it to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.
Consignments are to be fumigated with methyl bromide.

The following rate must be applied:

  • 32g/m3 for 2 hours at 21 degrees Celsius or above.
