Consignments are to be free from pests, soil, weed seeds and extraneous material.


This is a protocol market. The protocol and workplan are available through MICoR Plants in the 'Documents' section. Access is restricted and requires a logon.

Seed potatoes are required to meet Thailand's protocol requirements, and must be inspected by an authorised officer with the protocol job function HEP4001:8 Export horticulture protocol markets: Root vegetable protocol group.

Seed potatoes are to be produced in designated production areas in states jointly approved by the 
Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry
, Australia and the Department of Agriculture, Thailand (DOA) for export to Thailand. Currently the States of Victoria, Western Australia and South Australia are approved by DOA for export of seed potatoes to Thailand.
 
Seed potatoes must be sourced from a nationally recognised seed potato certification scheme. Exporter to provide evidence of certification and present to the Authorised Officer at time of inspection.
 
Original and certified translation of the import permit must be presented to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.
Where applicable, the exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the endorsement and present it to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.
Potato tubers shall be practically free of soil. The weight of loose soil shall not exceed 100gm per 50kg of seed potatoes (equivalent to 0.2% soil by weight).

For caked soil, seed potatoes which have more than 20% of the surface of the tuber with caked soil should not exceed 30 tubers in a 600 unit sample (equivalent to 5%).

Crop registration number must be included on the phytosanitary certificate under "Distinguishing Marks" for each container in the consignment.

Seed potato certificate number (label) must be included on the phytosanitary certificate under "Name of Produce" for each container in the consignment.

1) The seed potatoes in this consignment were produced in Australia in accordance with the conditions governing entry of seed potatoes to Thailand.
2) Potato spindle tuber viroid (PSTVd) is not known to occur in the area of production.
