Mixed consignments of different species of fresh fruits undergoing in-transit and on-shore cold treatment are not permitted by Thailand Department of Agriculture.
Persimmons are permitted to be exported to Thailand from Queensland only.
This is a protocol market. Detailed information is provided in the protocol available through MICoR Plants in the 'Documents' section. Access is restricted and requires a logon.
Orchards, packhouses and treatment facilities are to be accredited by the department for the export of persimmons to Thailand.
For consignments exported via sea transport, the Authorised Officer must place a numbered seal on all sea freight containers. The seal number must be noted on the phytosanitary certificate.
The export listed packhouse number/s must be entered into the “Shipping Marks” field of the EXDOC Request for Permit (RFP) as: PACKHOUSE NO: XXXX.
There is to be no deviation from this text format.
Certificate as to Condition - Irradiation
Exporters are responsible for ensuring that the consignment is accompanied by a Certificate as to Condition (HX46) attesting that consignments have been irradiated at a facility that complies with Thailand Ministry of Public Health Notifications BE 2553.
For persimmons treated at Steritech Narangba the following statement is required when a HX46 template is added to the RFP:
"The goods listed on this certificate have been irradiated at Steritech, Narangba, QLD, a facility that complies with Thailand's Ministry of Public Health Notification B.E.2553 (2010) re: Irradiated Food."
For persimmons treated at Steritech Mickelham the follow statement is required when a HX46 template is added to the RFP:
"The goods listed on this certificate have been irradiated at Steritech, Mickleham, VIC, a facility that complies with Thailand’s Ministry of Public Health Notification B.E.2553 (2010) re: Irradiated Food.”
Note for AOs and ASE: A Certificate as to Condition must accompany each consignment, and on assessment of RFP please ensure that the text is written correctly.
Fruit sourced fromQueensland must be treated for Queensland fruit fly, Lesser Queensland fruitfly and Jarvis fruit fly and are subject to onshore cold treatment orin-transit cold treatment.
The following cold treatment parameters apply:
Innermost fruit pulp temperature (degrees Celsius) - Exposure period(consecutive days):
- 0 degrees Celsius or belowfor 13 days or more
OR
- 0.56 degrees Celsius orbelow for 14 days or more
OR
- 1.11 degrees Celsius orbelow for 18 days or more
OR
- 1.67 degrees Celsius orbelow for 20 days or more
OR
- 2.22 degrees Celsius orbelow 22 days or more
In-transit cold treatment
In-transit cold treatment may be carried out partly as a pre-shipment treatmentcommencing in Australia and completed in-transit. In the event of treatmentfailure, treatment may be completed on arrival.
A 'Record of calibration of fruit sensors' must be signed and stamped by anAuthorised Officer and the original attached to the phytosanitary certificate,which must accompany the consignment. The date of treatment initiation mustalso be included on the 'Record of calibration of fruit sensors'.
Onshore cold treatment
Onshore cold treatment can only be carried out at a registered establishment thatis also accredited to treat fruit for Thailand. Treatment will bemonitored by an Authorised Officer.
Temperature sensors must be placed under supervision of an Authorised Officer.Only an Authorised Officer can authorise the completion of a treatment.
The name and number of the registered establishment and the room number whereonshore cold treatment was conducted must be entered in the 'Lot number' field(a free text field) of the EXDOC Request For Permit (RFP) as:
- ONSHORE COLD TREATMENT AT <REGISTERED ESTABLISHMENT NAME> / <REGISTERED ESTABLISHMENT NUMBER> - <APPROVED ROOM NUMBER>.
There is to be nodeviation from this text format.
The following treatment details are required on the phytosanitary certificatein the “Treatment” section:
- treatment temperature, and
- treatment duration (numberof consecutive days).
Irradiation
Irradiation treatment must be conducted in an irradiation facilityaccredited by DOA and the department.
The following rates are permitted:
- Irradiated at a minimum of 150 gray for Queensland fruit fly (Bactroceratryoni), Jarvis fly (Bactrocera jarvisi) and Mediterranean fruit fly (Ceratitiscapitata)
OR
- Irradiated at minimum of 400 gray for other insect pests except pupaeand adults of the order Lepidoptera.
Option 1 (EXDOC Endorsement 2525)
1) The consignment of persimmon fruit has been produced and prepared for export in accordance with the conditions for import of fresh persimmon fruit from Australia to Thailand,
2) An Authorised Officer has supervised the calibration and the placement of fruit sensors into the fruit within the container(s) in accordance with the conditions for import of fresh persimmon fruit from Australia into Thailand and cold disinfestation treatment has been initiated.
Option 2 (EXDOC Endorsement 2526)
1) The consignment of persimmon fruit has been produced and prepared for export in accordance with the conditions for import of persimmon fruit from Australia to Thailand.
Option 3 (EXDOC Endorsement 6204)
1) The consignment of persimmon fruit has been produced and prepared for export in accordance with the conditions for import of persimmon fruit from Australia to Thailand.
2) The consignment of persimmon fruit has been treated by Irradiation at a minimum absorbed dose of 150 Gy.
Option 4 (EXDOC Endorsement 6205)
1) The consignment of persimmon fruit has been produced and prepared for export in accordance with the conditions for import of persimmon fruit from Australia to Thailand.
2) The consignment of persimmon fruit has been treated by Irradiation at a minimum absorbed dose of 400 Gy.
1) The consignment of persimmon fruit has been produced and prepared for export in accordance with the conditions for import of fresh persimmon fruit from Australia to Thailand,

2) The consignment of persimmon fruit has been treated by Irradiation at a minimum absorbed dose of 150 Gy.
Option 4 (EXDOC Endorsement 6205)
1) The consignment of persimmon fruit has been produced and prepared for export in accordance with the conditions for import of persimmon fruit from Australia to Thailand.
2) The consignment of persimmon fruit has been treated by Irradiation at a minimum absorbed dose of 400 Gy.
