Consignments are to be free from pests, soil, weed seeds and extraneous material.


A copy of the import permit must be presented to an Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.

Note: Import permits may state the following text:

The consignment was fumigated with appropriate fumigant (eg Methyl bromide, Aluminium Phosphide) in the country of origin or in the importing country upon arrival, details of fumigation to be stipulated in the phytosanitary certificate.
If consignments are to be treated in Australia, they must be treated with an appropriate treatment (Methyl bromide/Aluminium phosphide) according to manufacturers' label requirements.

Details of the treatment may be endorsed on the phytosanitary certificate if evidence attesting to the treatment is presented to the department at time of authorisation.

If the treatment is to be completed in Tanzania the endorsement of treatment details is not mandatory. If fumigation details are being provided upon arrival, it is the exporter's responsibility to ensure the documents are provided to the Tanzania NPPO. No certification of fumigation documents is required by the department or Authorised Officer if this is the case.
