Explanation of the endorsements

Endorsement 5540:

Product is bark free and free from grub holes caused by Longhorn beetle (Monochamus spp) (non-European), defined for this purpose as those which are larger than 3mm across

Endorsement 5541:

Must follow the treatment detils under option 1.

Endorsement 5542:

Must follow the treatment detils under option 2.

Endorsement 5543:

Must follow the treatment detils under option 3.

Endorsement 5544:

Must follow the treatment detils under option 4.

If exporter is not declaring endorsement 5540, one of the below treatments must be applied to product.

The exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the treatment and present it to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.

 
Option 1

Product has undergone kiln-drying to below 20% moisture content, expressed as a percentage of dry matter, achieved through an appropriate time/temperature schedule. Product should be marked kiln-dried, K.D or other internationally recognised mark either on timber or wrapping. It is not to be endorsed on phytosanitary certificate.

Option 2

Product has undergone fumigation to specifications as approved by the  Federal Office for the Environment (FOEN). Treatment to be endorsed on phytosanitary certificate under treatment section indicating active ingredient, minimum wood temperature, applied rate (grm/m3) and exposure period.

Option 3

Product has undergone an appropriate chemical pressure impregnation with a product approved by the Federal Office for the Environment (FOEN). Treatment to be endorsed on phytosanitary certificate under treatment section indicating active ingredient, pressure and concentration.

Option 4

Product has undergone heat treatment that achieved a minimum core temperature of 56 degrees Celsius for a minimum duration of 30 minutes. Product should be marked HT either on timber or wrapping, and is to be endorsed on phytosanitary certificate under treatment section.

Option 2 (EXDOC Endorsement 5541)
1) Fulfils item 1.6 b of Annex IVAI of Plant Protection Ordinance (PPO 916.20) as amended.

Option 3 (EXDOC Endorsement 5542)
1) Fulfils item 1.6 c of Annex IVAI of Plant Protection Ordinance (PPO 916.20) as amended.

Option 4 (EXDOC Endorsement 5543)
1) Fulfils item 1.6 d of Annex IVAI of Plant Protection Ordinance (PPO 916.20) as amended.

Option 5 (EXDOC Endorsement 5544)
1) Fulfils item 1.6 e of Annex IVAI of Plant Protection Ordinance (PPO 916.20) as amended.
