Consignments are to be free from pests, soil, weed seeds and extraneous material.


A copy of the import permit must be presented to an Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.


Where applicable, the exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the endorsement and present it to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.


Consignments are to be accompanied by an International Seed Testing Association (ISTA) Orange Certificate. The test report should state the below (check import permit for details):

  • Lot number and quantity
  • Genetic and physical purity of seeds
  • Other seed count (including crop and weed seeds) 
  • The sample must be taken by accredited person using ISTA methodology

Explanation of the endorsements

Endorsement 768:
Visual inspection by the Authorised Officer is sufficient to endorse freedom from Ergots (Claviceps spp).

Endorsement 6314:

Sri Lanka's quarantine pests for Trifolium pratense are: 
 
  • Pineapple mealybug (Dysmicoccus brevipes) 
  • Fall armyworm (Spodoptera frugiperda) 
  • Red spider mite (Tetranychus urticae) 
  • Aster yellow phytoplasma group
  • Potato witches broom phytoplasma
  • Alfalfa mosaic virus
  • Bacterial blight (Burkholderia andropogonis)
  • Crown gall (Rhizobium radiobacter)
  • Bacterial gall (Rhizobium rhizogenes)
  • Clover cyst nematode (Heterodera trifolii)
  • Soybean dwarf virus
  • Stem and bulb nematode (Ditylenchus dipsaci)
  • Bean Yellow Mosaic Potyvirus
  • Cucumber Mosaic Virus

Visual inspection by the Authorised Officer is sufficient to endorse freedom from the following:

  • Ergots (Claviceps spp)
  • Soil (as per normal tolerances)
  • Plant debris (as per normal tolerances)
  • Pineapple mealybug (Dysmicoccus brevipes) 
  • Fall armyworm (Spodoptera frugiperda) 
  • Red spider mite (Tetranychus urticae) 
The following pests are not present in Australia, therefore no evidence is required to endorse freedom from these pests:

  • Aster yellow phytoplasma group
  • Potato witches broom phytoplasma
The following pests are not known to occur on the seed export pathway, therefore no evidence is required to endorse freedom from these pests:

  • Alfalfa mosaic virus
  • Bacterial blight (Burkholderia andropogonis)
  • Crown gall (Rhizobium radiobacter)
  • Bacterial gall (Rhizobium rhizogenes)
  • Clover cyst nematode (Heterodera trifolii)
  • Soybean dwarf virus
Freedom from the following pests may be endorsed based on crop inspection or laboratory analysis of a representative sample:

  • Stem and bulb nematode (Ditylenchus dipsaci)
  • Bean Yellow Mosaic Potyvirus
  • Cucumber Mosaic Virus
Freedom from the following may be endorsed based on the ISTA testing and report:
 
  • Toxicants
  • Regulated weed seeds of Sri Lanka 

Consignments are to be securely packaged, with each package labelled with information on crop, variety, seed treatment if any, name and address of supplier and lot number.

Consignments are to be accompanied by a Certificate of Origin issued by the Australian Chamber of Commerce and industry.
Option 1 (EXDOC Endorsement 768)
1) A representative sample was inspected and found free of Ergots (Claviceps spp).

Option 2 (EXDOC Endorsement 6314)
1) The consignment was found free through official testing and inspection procedures of quarantine pests of Sri Lanka, Ergots (Claviceps spp), seed borne diseases, toxicants, soil, plant debris and regulated weed seeds.
Import permits dated 16 July 2015 and 30 June 2020.
