Consignments are to be free from pests, soil, weed seeds and extraneous material.

A copy of the import permit must be presented to an Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.


The botanical names of the seeds including varieties and hybrids must be endorsed on the phytosanitary certificate.

A country of origin, unless the seeds were grown in Australia, must be added in additional product description section of a phytosanitary certificate. Contact EXDOC Plant Programs at EXDOCPlantPrograms@aff.gov.au to enable this field.

It is the exporter’s responsibility to ensure that the phytosanitary certificate is issued within 14 days prior to the consignment being exported from Australia.

Refer to the departure date and inspection date in the Request for Permit.
If indicated as a requirement on the import permit, consignment is to be treated with an appropriate insecticide and fungicide at recommended manufacturer’s requirements.

Where applicable, the exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the endorsement and present it to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.


If no treatment requirement is indicated on the import permit, no treatment details to be endorsed on the phytosanitary certificate.
