Consignments are to be free from pests, soil, weed seeds and extraneous material.

And must not contain more than 1% foreign matter.

A copy of the import permit must be presented to an Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.


It is the exporter’s responsibility to ensure that the phytosanitary certificate is issued within 14 days of the consignment being exported from Australia.

Refer to the departure date and inspection date in the Request for Permit.

Consignment must be labelled with botanical nameincluding varieties and securely packaged to prevent spillage in transit.

The consignment must be accompanied with acertificate from an accredited laboratory showing freedom from Salmonella andEscherichia coli.
Consignments are to be treated with either an appropriate insecticide at recommended manufacturers' requirements or heat treatment to eliminate stored pests.

The exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the treatment and present it to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.
