Consignments are to be free from pests, soil, weed seeds and extraneous material.

Consignments must not contain more than 1% foreign matter.

The ICRs apply to consignments being exported with an import permit which specifies the end use as 'Consumption' or 'Processing'. Even if the import permit specifies the end use as 'Consumption', the end use on the Request for Permit (RFP) must be listed as 'Processing' for grains which require further processing prior to consumption. 

It is the exporter’s responsibility to ensure the consignment is exported within 14 days of inspection and the phytosanitary certificate is issued within 14 days of the consignment being exported from Australia.

Refer to the departure date and inspection date in the Request for Permit.

Durum wheat properly labelled with the botanical name, must be securely packaged to prevent spillage in transit.

Explanation of the endorsement

Import permits may indicate varying requirements for additional declarations. Please refer to the import permit for the correct additional declaration. 

Endorsement 8459:
  • Applies to Durum wheat (Triticum durum) for pasta production. 
  • Visual inspection by an Authorised Officer is required to endorse freedom from Mediterranean flour moth (Ephestia kuehniella), Chocolate moth (Ephestia elutella), Grain psocids (Liposcelis paeta), Indian meal moth (Plodia interpunctella), Confused flour beetle (Tribolium confusum), Warehouse beetle (Trogoderma variabile), Hairy fungus beetle (Typhaea stercorea) and Tramp slug (Deroceras invadens).
Option 1 (EXDOC Endorsement 8459)
1) A representative samples was inspected and found free from Mediterranean flour moth (Ephestia kuehniella), Tobacco moth (Ephestia elutella), Grain psocids (Liposcelis paeta), Indian meal moth (Plodia interpunctella), Confused flour beetle (Tribolium confusum), Warehouse beetle (Trogoderma variabile), Hairy fungus beetle (Typhaea stercorea), and Tramp slug (Deroceras invadens).
