Consignments are to be free from pests, soil, weed seeds and extraneous material.
A copy of the import permit must be presented to an Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.

Explanation of the endorsement

Endorsement 998:

  • Khapra beetle (Trogoderma granarium) is known not to occur in Australia. No evidence is required to endorse freedom from this pest.

If required by the import permit, consignments of carob powder must be treated with:

  • An appropriate treatment ensuring the absence of live insects, fungal diseases and viable seeds.

If the consignment is not treated, representative samples will be drawn for laboratory testing on arrival.

The exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the treatment and present it to the department at time of authorisation.
