Consignments are to be free from pests, soil, weed seeds and extraneous material, including storage pests.
 
A copy of the import permit must be presented to an Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.

 
The Solomon Islands may be issue import permits for stockfeed crumbles as documents with the title of either a 'Licence To Import Plants and Plant Products' or a 'Permit to Import Animal Products.' Either import permit may be issued for plant based stockfeed and the import requirements will vary depending on the type of import permit issued.

Where applicable, the exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the endorsement and present it to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.


A Container Cleanliness Certificate must accompany all consignments. An Empty Container Inspection Certificate (EXDOC template GL2) may be issued if requested certifying container hygiene prior to loading.

Permit to Import Animal Products with the attachment Schedule No A26.

Consignments must be commercially processed, labelled and packaged.
  
Consignment may only be permitted entry through the port of Honiara only.
 
Explanation of the endorsements

Endorsement 4663:

Stockfeed containing animal products require:

  • Heat treatment certificate
  • Product processing statement such as manufacturer's declaration
  • Statement that the animal products contained in the stockfeed are derived from animals born and raised in Australia.

Consignments are to be fumigated with:

  • Methyl bromide at 16 grm/m3 at 25 degrees Celsius for 16-24 hours at NAP;

OR

  • 50-60 phosphine tablets per 20ft FCL container.

Note:

Fumigation with methyl bromide at 16 grm/m3 for less then 24 hours is not permitted by Australian label rates. Consignment must be fumigated at 24 grm/m3 or above for 24 hours or longer at above 15 degrees Celsius at NAP to meet Australian label requirements. Treatment should be endorsed as "16grm/m3 or above at 21 degrees for 24 hours".

Refer to the Additional Declaration section for requirements for heat treatment during processing.

Details of fumigation to be endorsed on the Phytosanitary certificate in the treatment section, if required by the import permit.

If stated on the import permit, containers must be sprayed with a Permethrin based insecticide equivalent to a concentration of 2.5% (w/v) and thoroughly cleaned internally and externally.

The exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the treatment and cleanliness of the container and to present to the Authorised Officer at time of inspection, if required by the import permit.

1) Khapra beetle (Trogoderma granarium) is known not to occur in Australia.
