Consignments are to be free from pests, soil, weed seeds and extraneous material.

A copy of the import permit must be presented to an Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.


Exporter is to ensure that all containerised consignments are accompanied by a shipping container certificate certifying that the containers:

  • Were clean prior to loading;
  • Have been fumigated at rates specified below;
  • Container interior is free from soil, plant residues, animal residues and has been inspected prior to loading; and
  • Any packing used is not straw or cereal material.

An Empty Container Inspection Certificate (EXDOC template GL2) may be issued if requested certifying container hygiene prior to loading.

When specified on the import permit consignments and/or containers or both to be fumigated with methyl bromide prior to export at:


32 grm/m3 for 48 hours at 21-26 degree Celsius;


OR

If the import permit does not provide a specific methyl bromide dosage, duration and temperature, then the recommended manufacturer's requirements (registered label rates) may be applied. Exporter is responsible to verify the permitted treatment rates with the NPPO.

The exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the treatment and present it to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.


When specified on the import permit, details of treatment to be endorsed on the Phytosanitary certificate in the treatment section.

 

Note: Treatment of the consignment and/or containers or both are mandatory when specified on the import permit.
