Consignments are to be free from pests, soil, weed seeds and extraneous material.
 
Original and certified translation of the import permit must be presented to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.
The original and official translation of the Import permit must be presented to the NPPO at the port of arrival in the Solomon Islands for final clearance of the consignment. 
 
Consignments are to be packed in clean, new packages/bags not previously used for any purpose.
 
Non-leafy produce must be free of foliage.

The product will be inspected at the port of entry and may be subject to treatment.

Consignments transhipped via another country
 
Consignments transhipped to the Solomon Islands from Australia via another country must be accompanied by a Re-export Certificate issued by the National Plant Protection Authority at the port of re-export. 

The Re-export Certificate must clearly state the exporter, consignee, description of the product, number of packages, distinguishing marks, place of origin, means of conveyance and point of entry into country. 

The Re-export Certificate must certify the consignment has been transported and handled in such a manner as to prevent the possibility of pest infestation and product substitution during transport.

Explanation of theendorsements

Endorsement 1898:

Only applies to fruit grown and packed in an area not less than 80 km from anarea where any harmful species of fruit fly (family Tephritidae) exists. Onlyfruit produced in Tasmania satisfies this requirement.

Endorsement 1891:

Applies to fruit subject to cold treatment.

Endorsement 3567:

Applies to fruit subject to fumigation with methyl bromide.

Where applicable, the exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the endorsement and present it to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.

Treatments are to be applied as per the conditions presented on the import permit.


Fruit does notrequire treatment if it has been grown and packed in an area not less than 80km from an area where any harmful species of fruit fly (family Tephritidae)exists.  Only fruit produced in Tasmania satisfies this requirement.

For produce frommainland Australia, consignments are to be treated by one of the followingtreatments, according to the treatment details on the Import permit:


Cold treatmentaccording to the following schedules

Consignmentscertified under endorsement 1891 are to be cold treated by one of the followingtreatments, according to the treatment details on the Import permit:

  • 0 degrees Celsius or belowfor not less than 13 days;
OR
  • 1 degrees Celsius ±0.6degrees Celsius for not less than 16 days. 
 
Fumigation withMethyl bromide

Consignmentscertified under endorsement 3567 are to be fumigated with Methyl bromide for 2hours (at atmospheric pressure) by one of the following treatments, accordingto the treatment details on the Import permit:

  • 10 – 15 degrees Celsius at48 grm/m3;
OR
  • 16 – 20 degrees Celsius at40 grm/m3;
OR
  • 21 – 25 degrees Celsius at32 grm/m3;
OR
  • 26 – 32 degrees Celsius at24 grm/m3;
OR
  • 15 – 21 degrees Celsius at32 grm/m3 (treatment rate only available if stated on license to import).
 
The exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the treatment and present it to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.

Option 1 (EXDOC Endorsement 1898)
1) This fruit has been grown and packed in an area not less than 80km from an area where any harmful species of fruit fly (family Tephritidae) exists, 
2) The fruit has been packed in pest proof containers.

Option 2 (EXDOC Endorsement 1891)
1) The fruit has been subjected to cold disinfestation treatment prior to shipping,
2) The fruit has been packed in pest proof containers.

Option 3 (EXDOC Endorsement 3567)
1) The fruit has been fumigated with methyl bromide,

2) The fruit has been packed in pest proof containers.
