Consignments are to be free from pests, soil, weed seeds and extraneous material.


A copy of the import permit must be presented to an Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.


Additional declarations are only to be endorsed on the Phytosanitary certificate if specified on the import permit.

The exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the treatment and present it to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.


Micor case applies to consignments greater than 250grms.

Seed must be sourced from Department of Agriculture Solomon Islands approved sources - refer to Import Permit for approved list of seed suppliers.

Seed is to be commercially packed in clean, new packages.

Packages / packets are to be clearly identified by the botanical name. Other forms of identification permitted as stated on the import permit.

Explanation of the endorsements

Endorsement 1362:
  • Laboratory analysis, crop inspection or area freedom certification may be presented for certifying freedom from Onion smut (Urocystis cepulae).
Endorsement 7329:
  • A pest free area or pest free place of production certificate is required for endorsing freedom from Onion smut (Urocystis cepulae).
Option 1 (EXDOC Endorsement 1362)
1) The consignment was found free through official testing and inspection procedure of Onion Smut (Urocystis cepulae).
2) The seeds in this consignment have been prepared to industry standards with thorough cleaning to remove all traces of flesh from the seeds.

Option 2 (EXDOC Endorsement 7329)
1) The onion seeds for sowing have been prepared to industry standards with thorough cleaning.
2) The onion seeds have been sourced from plants growing in either a "Pest free area" or Pest free place of production" free from Onion smut (Urocystis cepulae).
