If the import permit does not state that a phytosanitary certificate is required, the consignment may be exported without an accompanying phytosanitary certificate. Acacia spp seed for sowing is not a prescribed good under Australian export legislation, therefore the consignment does not require inspection by an Authorised Officer and issuance of an export permit.

If the import permit states that a phytosanitary certificate is required, the seed must be inspected by an Authorised Officer and an export permit and a phytosanitary certificate must be issued. The exporter is to present a copy of the import permit to the Authorised Officer at the time of making an appointment for inspection.

If specified on the import permit, consignments must be accompanied by an International Seed Testing Association (ISTA) certificate or seed quality certificate from an accredited source.

Exporter should verify entry requirements prior to export.
