Consignments are to be free from pests, soil, weed seeds and extraneous material.

Original and certified translation of the import permit must be presented to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.

Note: When consignments are treated with methyl bromide a laboratory analysis certificate must be provided to the Authorised Officer at time of inspection as evidence endorsing freedom from fungal diseases, nematodes, pathogens that affect Poaceae seeds, grass seeds and rhizomes.

Consignments must undergo one of the following treatments:

  • Dry heat treatment at 121 degrees Celsius for 2 hours and the soil is spread in layers not more than 13mm;

OR

  • Steam treatment at 121 degrees Celsius for 30 minutes and the soil is spread in layers not more than 50mm;

OR

  • Treatment with methyl bromide at 80gm per cubic meter for 48 hours and the soil is spread in layers not more than 30cm.

The exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the treatment and present it to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.
