Consignments are to be free from pests, soil, weed seeds and extraneous material.

A copy of the import permit must be presented to an Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.

Explanation of the endorsement

Endorsement 6610:

Laboratory test analysis of a representative sample may be used to endorse freedom from the following pests:
  • Aspergillus rot (Aspergillus flavus)
  • Aspergillus rot  (Aspergillus niger)
  • Glume blotch (Phaeosphaeria nodorum)
Visual inspection by an Authorised Officer may be used as evidence to endorse freedom from the following pests:
  • Dried currant moth (Cadra cautella)
  • Mediterranean flour moth (Ephestia kuehniella)
  • Sawtooth grain beetle (Oryzaephilus surinamensis)
  • Ergot (Claviceps purpurea)
Where applicable, the exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the endorsement and present it to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.

The following materials must not be used as packing material: leaves, maize, rice, sorghum,palm, wheat straw, or soil. If any other plant residue is used as packaging material, the consignment must be accompanied by a certificate stating: All pests and pest propagules have been killed before use of the material either by heating to 180°F/83°C, for ten minutes or by the chemical treatment (N.B:- Details to be stated on phytosanitary certificate).

Additional Certificates

A Certificate as to Conditions (GX46) may be issued for certifying aflatoxin levels to be within the National Standard. A laboratory analysis certificate confirming the level of total aflatoxin to be 10 ppb or below and the level of AflatoxinB1 (AFB1) to be 5 ppb or below must be presented as supporting evidence. A GX46 certifying the aflatoxin levels may only be issued when specified on the import permit. Aflatoxins are a group of mycotoxins produced by strains of Aspergillus, especially Aspergillus flavus and Aspergillus parasiticus.

The following text must be added to the additional declaration field when a GX46 template is added to the RFP:

A laboratory analysis certificate confirming the level of total aflatoxin to be 10ppb or below and the level of aflatoxin B1 (AFB1) to be 5ppb or below. 

Non-GMO requirements:

If certification is required (refer to import permit/NPPO notification), the exporter is responsible for ensuring that the consignment is accompanied by a Certificate as to Condition attesting that the seed has not been genetically modified.

If requested, a Certificate as to Condition (Grain - GX46/Horticulture - HX46) can be issued for the consignment that is specifically supported from information supplied by the Office of the Gene Technology Regulator (OGTR) and where it is a government requirement of the importing country for non-GMO certification (refer to import permit/NPPO Notification).

The following text must be added to the additional declaration field when a GX46/HX46 template is added to the RFP:

The Office of the Gene Technology Regulator has advised the department that there has been no intentional release into the Australian environment of genetically modified product(s) listed on this certificate.

Option 1 (EXDOC Endorsement 6610)
1) The consignment was found free through official testing and inspection procedure of Aspergillus rot (Aspergillus flavus), Aspergillus rot (Aspergillus niger), Glum blotch (Phaeosphaeria nodorum), Dried currant moth (Cadra cautella), Mediterranean flour moth (Ephestia kuehniella), Sawtooth grain beetle (Oryzaephilus surinamensis) and Ergot (Claviceps purpurea).

Import permit dated 15 June 2022.
