Consignments are to be free from pests, soil, weed seeds and extraneous material.

A copy of the import permit must be presented to an Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.

Case does not apply to genetically modified seed.

Consignments must be accompanied by a certificate of seed quality analysis.

Packaging - The following material must not be used as packaging:
leaves, maize, rice, sorghum, palm, wheat straw or soil.

If any other plant residue is used as packaging material, the consignment must be accompanied by a certificate stating: all pests and pest propagules have been killed before use of the material either by heating to 83 degrees Celsius for 10 minutes or by chemical treatment. The heat treatment details are to be endorsed on a Phytosanitary Certificate.

The exporter to provide evidence attesting to the treatment to the authorised officer at the time of inspection, if a treatment has been applied to the packaging material.

Explanation of the endorsement

Endorsement 8039:

  • A crop inspection certificate, laboratory analysis certificate or a combination of the two are required to endorse freedom from Grey mould-rot (Botryotinia fuckeliana), Black root rot (Chalara elegans), Sclerotinia rot (Slerotinia sclerotiorum), Cucurbit angular leaf spot (Pseudomonas syringae pv. lachrymans), Bean bacterial brown spot (Pseudomonas syringae pv. syringae) and Zucchini yellow mosaic virus.

Consignment must be treated with an appropriate fumigant or dressed with an appropriate pesticide (fungicide and insecticide) at manufacturers recommended rates.

The exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the treatment and present it to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.

1) The consignment was found free through official testing and inspection procedure of Grey mould-rot (Botryotinia fuckeliana), Black root rot (Chalara elegans), Sclerotinia rot (Slerotinia sclerotiorum), Cucurbit angular leaf spot (Pseudomonas syringae pv. lachrymans), Bean bacterial brown spot (Pseudomonas syringae pv. syringae) and Zucchini yellow mosaic virus.
