Any import of food or feed to Peru must comply with Peru's food safety import requirements. Exporters are responsible for confirming the food safety requirements via their importer.
Explanation of the endorsements
Endorsement 6335:
Freedom from Argentine stem weevil (Listronotus bonariensis) and warehouse beetle (Trogoderma variabile) may be endorsed on the phytosanitary certificate based on visual inspection of a representative sample by the Authorised Officer.
Consignments are to be fumigated before loading with:
Methyl bromide at:
- 40 grm/m3 for 12 hours at 32 degree Celsius or above;
OR
- 56 grm/m3 for 12 hours at 27 to 31 degree Celsius;
OR
- 92 grm/m3 for 12 hours at 21 to 26 degree Celsius;
OR
- - 96 grm/m3 for 12 hours at 16 to 20 degree Celsius;
OR
- - 120 grm/m3 for 12 hours at 10 to 15 degree Celsius.
OR
Peru prescribes the following rates for Phosphine treatment:
- 3 grm/m3 for 72 hours at 16 to 20 degree Celsius;
OR
- 2 grm/m3 for 96 hours at 21 degree Celsius or above;
OR
- 2 grm/m3 for 120 hours at 16 to 20 degree Celsius;
OR
- 2 grm/m3 for 144 hours at 11 to 15 degree Celsius;
- 2 grm/m3 for 240 hours at 5 to 10 degree Celsius.
- 7 days when commodity temperature is above 25 degree Celsius;
- 10 days when commodity temperature is 15 degree Celsius to 25 degree Celsius;
- 20 days for surface only application in well-sealed structures greater than 375 m3 (300 t capacity).
