Consignments are to be free from pests, soil, weed seeds and extraneous material.


A copy of the import permit must be presented to an Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.


The original may be withheld by the importer or its agent for presentation and inspection at the port of entry upon arrival in Papua New Guinea.

Consignments are to be packed in commercial packs in new packaging or cleaned and sanitised containers.

The produce may be kept in ambient cold storage until export.
Current import permits indicate the availability of reconditioning treatments of methyl bromide fumigation and cold treatment. However, the department is awaiting further information from NAQIA on these treatments. Upon receipt of this information, MICoR will be updated to include these reconditioning treatments. A reconditioning treatment is only required if the produce exceeds the inspection tolerance level for fruit fly and other pests.
