Consignments are to be free from pests, soil, weed seeds and extraneous material.


A copy of the import permit must be presented to an Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.


The original may be withheld by the importer or their agent for presentation and inspection at the port of entry.

Consignments are to be packed in commercial packs in new packaging or cleaned and sanitised containers.

All consignments are to be free of husk or cleaned of excess husk to the layer of the husk covering the kernels.
Current import requirements indicate the availability of reconditioning treatments of methyl bromide fumigation and cold treatment if insects are detected. 

The department is awaiting further information from NAQIA on these treatments. Upon receipt of this information, MICoR will be updated to include these reconditioning treatments. A reconditioning treatment is only required if the produce exceeds the inspection tolerance level for fruit fly and other pests.
