Must be packed in new, clean bags or cleaned containers.
Papua New Guinea can issue variations of import permits with different treatment requirements. Exporters should check the permit for confirmation of any treatment details.
Empty Container Treatments
If required by the import permit, containerised bulk loaded or bagged consignments, containers must be thoroughly cleansed andsanitised with malathion or fumigated with methyl bromide at 48 grm/m3 for 12hours are 21 degrees Celsius before loading.
Empty Bulk Vessel Hold Treatments
If required by the import permit, bulk shipment in vessel must have the hold cleansed andsanitised with malathion or fumigated with methyl bromide at 80 grm/m3 for 24 hoursare 21 degree Celsius or above before loading.
Container and vessel hold treatment and/or fumigation certificates are tobe affixed to each consignment.
Consignment Treatments
- If required by the import permit, consignments are to be heat treated at 90 degree Celsius or above for 50-60 seconds during processing.
OR
- If required by the import permit, consignments are to be fumigated with methyl bromide at 32 grm/m3 for 24 hours at 21 degrees Celsius.
