Consignments are to be free from pests, soil, weed seeds and extraneous material.


A copy of the import permit must be presented to an Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.


Where applicable, the exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the endorsement and present it to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.
The Saccharum spp setts must be treated with a hot water treatment at 50 degrees Celsius for 1 hour;

AND

Immersed in a suspension of fungicide and insecticide for ten minutes;

OR

Dried and dusted to excess with a fungicide (0.3% Thiram; or 0.3% Carboxin; or 0.3% Captan).

The exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the treatment and present it to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.

Option 1 (EXDOC Endorsement 1584)
1) The Saccharum spp setts in the consignment have been sourced from a propagation plot that was inspected during the growing season and found free from symptoms of systemic diseases,
2) The Saccharum spp setts in the consignment were cold water soaked at 18 -25 degrees Celsius for two (2) days; followed by hot water treatment at 50 degrees Celsius for three (3) hours,
3) The Saccharum spp setts in the consignment were immersed in a fungicide suspension of 0.5% benomyl and 0.25% triadimephon and the insecticide 0.01% deltramethrin for 10-15 minutes prior to two (2) growing cycles in quarantine,
4) The Saccharum spp setts in the consignment were sourced from a known reputable source and the mother plants were inspected during the two (2) growing cycles and found substantially free from rot and insects at any stage of development,
5) The Saccharum spp setts in the consignment are no more than 50 cm in length with a maximum of 3 bud setts,
6) The extremities of the Saccharum spp setts have been dipped in paraffin wax.
