The original may be withheld by the importer or their agent for presentation and inspection at the port of entry.
Importing country requirements applies to potatoes for processing.
Consignments sourced from South Australia, Tasmania and Victoria are permitted to be exported. A copy of the Area Freedom Certificate for Potato spindle tuber viroid must be presented to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.
Consignments must be washed, clean and healthy.
Consignments are to be packed in commercial packs in new packaging or cleaned and sanitised containers.
Consignments must be either treated with sprout inhibitor after harvest in accordance with the manufacturer's directions, and this must be mentioned in the phytosanitary declaration.

Consignments must undergo other treatments, including fumigation treatment, as directed by the Chief Quarantine Officer (Plants) upon arrival in Papua New Guinea.
Current import requirements indicate the availability of reconditioning treatments of methyl bromide fumigation and cold treatment.
However, the department is awaiting further information from NAQIA on these treatments. Upon receipt of this information, MICoR will be updated to include these reconditioning treatments. A reconditioning treatment is only required if the produce exceeds the inspection tolerance level for fruit fly and other pests.

1) Golden cyst nematode (Globodera pallida), Wart disease (Synchytrium endobioticum) and Ring rot (Clavibacter michiganensis subspp. sependonicus) are not known to occur in Australia,
2) Potato cyst nematode (Globodera rostochiensis) is known not to occur in the area of production,
3) Potato spindle tuber viroid (PSTVd) is not known to occur in the area of production.
