Consignments are to be free from pests, soil, weed seeds and extraneous material.


A copy of the import permit must be presented to an Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.
Consignments are to be treated with:

  • Methyl bromide at 48grm/m3 for 2.5 hours at 21 degrees Celsius and above;

OR

  • Phospine at 5grm/m3 for seven days at temperature above 25 degrees Celsius;

OR

  • Phospine at 5grm/m3 for ten days at temperatures between 15 – 25 degrees Celsius;

AND

  • Consignments are to be treated by dusting (to excess) with an appropriate insecticide and/or fungicide at recommended manufacturers requirements.


Refer to import permit to determine if treatment of the consignment is required.

The exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the treatment and present it to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.


Details of treatments are only to be endorsed on the Phytosanitary certificate in the treatments section where the import permit specifically states this requirement. Import permits sighted in which there is no specific treatment details are to be issued with a phytosanitary certificate with no treatment details.
