Consignments are to be free from pests, soil, weed seeds and extraneous material.


A copy of the import permit must be presented to an Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.


Exporters are to have consignments tested for all heavy metal contaminates and pesticide residues. Certificate to accompany the consignment
Consignment to be fumigated with:

  • Methyl bromide at 42 grm/m3 for 12 hours at 21degrees Celsius and above;

OR

  • Phosphine at 5 grm/m3 for 7 days at temperatures above 25 degrees Celsius;

OR

  • Phosphine at 5grm/m3 for 10 days at a temperature between 15 and 25 degrees Celsius.


Treatment may be undertaken onshore or at port or entry.

If treatment is undertaken onshore, the exporter to provide evidence attesting to the treatment and to present to the Department of Agriculture Authorised Officer at time of inspection.

Details of treatment to be endorsed on the phytosanitary certificate in the treatment section.


If treatment is to be undertaken at port of entry, no details of treatment are to be endorsed on the Phytosanitary Certificate in the treatment
