THIS COMMODITY IS A PROHIBITED IMPORT.

Consignments are to be free from pests, soil, weed seeds and extraneous material; including animal material (faeces, feathers, etc).

A copy of the import permit must be presented to an Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.
Seed must be treated as per import permit with one of the following options:

  • Consignments must undergo fumigation with methyl bromide at 48g/m3 for 2.5 hours at 21 degrees celsius or above.

OR

  • Fumigated with Phosphine at 5g/m3 for seven (7) days at temperatures above 25 degrees celsius or ten (10) days at temperatures between 15 - 25 degrees celsius.
OR
  • Treated with the standard coat - Lime, Talc, NPK trace elements, Gibberellic acid (Germination booster) and sealed with a coloring mixture at manufacturers recommended rate.

The exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the treatment and present it to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.
