Consignments are to be free from pests and foreign matter (including plant debris, weed and grass seeds, and soil).

A copy of the import permit must be presented to an Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.


Explanation of the endorsements

Endorsement 998:

Is to be used for bulk consignments only.
  • Consignments are to be treated (dusted to excess) with appropriate fungicide and insecticide at recommended manufacturers requirements;

OR

  • Fumigated with Methyl bromide at 48grm/m3 for 3 hours at 21 degrees Celsius and above;

OR

  • Fumigated with Phosphine at 5grm/m3 for seven (7) days at temperatures above 25 degrees Celsius or ten (10) days at temperatures between 15 - 25 degrees Celsius.
The exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the treatment and present it to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.

Commercially packed seeds for sowing does not require treatment.

1) Khapra beetle (Trogoderma granarium) is known not to occur in Australia.
