Consignments are to be free from pests, soil, weed seeds and extraneous material.


A copy of the import permit must be presented to an Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.


Consignments are to be accompanied by a seed testing report when specified on the import permit. Contact the Pakistani authorities for details of tests required.

Explanation of the endorsements

Endorsement 1167:
  • Stewart's wilt (Xanthomonas stewartii) is not known to occur in Australia. Freedom from this pest may be endorsed without any supporting evidence.

Endorsement 5364:

  • High Plains Tenuivirus, Maize Dwarf Mosaic Potyvirus and Stewart wilt (Xanthomonas stewartii) are not known to occur in Australia. Freedom from these pests may be endorsed without any supporting evidence.
  • A laboratory analysis certificate must be presented as evidence of freedom from Wheat Streak Mosaic Virus.

 

Endorsement 6307:

  • High Plains Tenuivirus, Maize Dwarf Mosaic Potyvirus and Stewart wilt (Xanthomonas stewartii) are not known to occur in Australia. Freedom from these pests may be endorsed without any supporting evidence.
  • A crop inspection report must be presented as evidence of freedom from Wheat Streak Mosaic Virus. 


Endorsement 6766:

Following pests are not known to occur in Australia. No evidence is required to endorse freedom from these pests:
  • Downy mildew (Pseudoperonospora humuli)
  • Hop viruses stewarts wilt (Pantoea stewartii subsp. Stewartii)
  • Nebraska wilt (Clavibacter michiganensis subsp. Nebraskensis)
  • Ergot (Claviceps gigantea)
  • Tropical rust (Physopella zeae)
  • Anthracnose (Kabatiella zeae)
  • Maize viruses (Maize chlorotic mottle machlomovirus, High Plains Tenuivirus, Maize Dwarf Mosaic Potyvirus)
  • Larger grain borer (Prostephanus truncatus)
Following pests are not on Zea mays seed exports pathway. No evidence is required to endorse freedom from the following pests:
  • Hop cyst nematode (Heterodera humuli)
Visual inspection of a representative sample by an Authorised Officer is required to endorse freedom from Maize weevil (Sitophilus zeamais).

 A laboratory analysis certificate or a crop inspection report is required to endorse freedom from the following pests:

  • Southern corn blight (Drechslera maydis Race T)
  • Tropical rust (Physopella zeae)

Endorsement 7827:

Following pests are not known to occur in Australia. No evidence is required to endorse freedom from these pests:

Where applicable, the exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the endorsement and present it to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.

When treatment is required, details of treatment to be endorsed on the phytosanitary certificate in the treatment section. If no treatment is specified on the import permit a treatment is not required.

Consignments are to be:
  • dried at 40 degree Celsius for 24 hours; and
  • immersed in a 3% sodium hydrochloride solution (3% available chlorine) for 15 minutes, following by rinsing and drying; and
  • treated with an appropriate fungicide registered for seed treatment of maize seed at manufacturer's approved label rates;

OR

  • Dried at 40 degree Celsius for 24 hours; and
  • Treated with an appropriate fungicide registered for seed treatment of maize seed at manufacturer's approved label rates.
The exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the treatment and present it to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.

2) A representative sample was tested and found free of Wheat Streak Mosaic Virus.

Option 3 (EXDOC Endorsement 6307)
1) High Plains Tenuivirus, Maize Dwarf Mosaic Potyvirus and Stewart wilt (Xanthomonas stewartii) are not known to occur in Australia.
2) The seeds have been sourced from crops that were inspected during active growth and found free of Wheat Streak Mosaic Virus.

Option 4 (EXDOC Endorsement 6766)
1) Downy mildew (Pseudoperonospora humuli),  Hop viruses stewarts wilt (Pantoea stewartii subsp. Stewartii), Nebraska wilt (Clavibacter michiganensis subsp. 4) A representative sample was inspected and found to be free of DPP regulated weed seeds.
