Consignments are to be free from pests, soil, weed seeds and extraneous material.


A copy of the import permit must be presented to an Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.


Explanation of the endorsements


Endorsement 5364:

  • High Plains Tenuivirus, Maize Dwarf Mosaic Potyvirus and Stewart wilt (Xanthomonas stewartii) are not known to occur in Australia. Freedom from these pests may be endorsed without any supporting evidence.
  • A laboratory analysis certificate must be presented as evidence of freedom from Wheat Streak Mosaic Virus. 
Endorsement 6307:

  • High Plains Tenuivirus, Maize Dwarf Mosaic Potyvirus and Stewart wilt (Xanthomonas stewartii) are not known to occur in Australia. Freedom from these pests may be endorsed without any supporting evidence.
  • A crop inspection report must be presented as evidence of freedom from Wheat Streak Mosaic Virus. 
Consignments are to be treated using one of the following options as specified on the import permit:

  • dried at 40 degree Celsius for 24 hours;

AND

  • immersed in a 3% sodium hydrochloride solution (3% available chlorine) for 15 minutes, following by rinsing and drying;

AND

  • treated with an appropriate fungicide registered for seed treatment of maize seed at manufacture's approved label rates; 

OR

  • dried at 40 degree Celsius for 24 hours;

AND

  • treated with an appropriate fungicide registered for seed treatment of maize seed at manufacture's approved label rates.

The exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the treatment and present it to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.

Option 1 (EXDOC Endorsement 5364)
1) High Plains Tenuivirus, Maize Dwarf Mosaic Potyvirus and Stewart wilt (Xanthomonas stewartii) are not known to occur in Australia.
2) A representative sample was tested and found free of Wheat Streak Mosaic Virus.

Option 2 (EXDOC Endorsement 6307)
1) High Plains Tenuivirus, Maize Dwarf Mosaic Potyvirus and Stewart wilt (Xanthomonas stewartii) are not known to occur in Australia.
2) The seeds have been sourced from crops that were inspected during active growth and found free of Wheat Streak Mosaic Virus.
