Consignments are to be free from pests, soil, weed seeds and extraneous material.


ICR applies to commercially prepared and packaged nuts that are processed and imported for human consumption.

Under this case an import permit is not required, the exporter is encouraged to confirm this prior to export.

Product must be packed in clean, new packaging.

 ICR applies to products listed below:

  • Shelled almonds (Prunus spp)
  • Cashew (Anacardium occidentale)
  • Hickory nuts (Carya spp)
  • Pecan nuts (Carya illinoensis)
  • Walnuts (Juglans spp)
  • Brazil nuts (Bertholletia excelsa)
  • Chestnuts (Castanea spp)
  • Charoli nuts (Buchanania alanzan)
  • Macadamia nuts (Macadamia spp)
  • Pili nuts (Canarium commune)
  • Candle nuts (Aleurites moluccana)
  • Hazelnuts (Corylus spp)
  • Ngali or galip nuts (Canarium spp)
  • Pistachio nuts (Pistacia vera)
  • Pine nuts (Pinus spp)

Permitted processed nuts are exempt from mandatory treatment if they are:

  • Commercially prepared and blanched, roasted, fried or boiled;

OR

  • Commercially prepared small confectionary tins sealed under vacuum or controlled atmosphere.

    The Exporter is to provide a packers or manufacturer's declaration attesting to the endorsement and present to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.
Option 1 (EXDOC Endorsement 5439)
1) The nuts in this consignment has been commercially prepared and blanched, roasted, fried or boiled.

Option 2 (EXDOC Endorsement 5440)
1) The nuts in this consignment are packaged in commercially prepared small confectionary tins sealed under vacuum or controlled atmosphere.
