Original and certified translation of the import permit must be presented to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.

Consignments are to be accompanied with a Certificate of Origin.

Explanation of the endorsements

Endorsement 6316:

The representative sample is to be visually inspected by the Authorised Officer to endorse freedom from the following pests:

  • Sorghum ergot (Claviceps africana)
  • Silver-leaf Nightshade (Solanum elaeagnifolium)
  • Deenanath grass (Pennisetum pedicellatum)
  • Wandering jew (Commelina benghalensis)
  • Doublegee (Emex australis)
  • Panic liverseed grass (Urochloa panicoides). 

Red witchweed (Striga asiatica) is recognised as not occurring in any Australian states and territories except the Mackay area of Queensland. Australian consignments of Sorghum bicolor seed can be endorsed free from Red witchweed (Striga asiatica) without any evidence presented except for seed sourced from the Mackay area which cannot be endorsed. The exporter must provide a declarations that the seeds have not been sourced from Mackay areas of Queensland.

Where applicable, the exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the endorsement and present it to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.

1) Consignment is free of Sorghum ergot (Claviceps africana), Silver-leaf Nightshade (Solanum elaeagnifolium), Deenanath grass (Pennisetum pedicellatum), Wandering jew (Commelina benghalensis), Red witchweed (Striga asiatica), Doublegee (Emex australis) and Panic liverseed grass (Urochloa panicoides).
